Self Inflating Mattress

Choose a Self Inflating Mattress for Your Camping Setup

A self inflating mattress combines foam cushioning with air to create a sleeping surface that rolls up for transport. It is a practical option for campers comparing comfort, setup and the amount of room their bedding takes up in the vehicle.

Start with your available sleeping space, then compare the mattress dimensions, thickness and packed size. A wider or thicker option may suit a roomy campsite setup, while a smaller mat can be easier to fit beside other bedding and gear.

Single or Double Self Inflating Mattress?

A single self inflating mattress gives each camper their own sleeping surface and lets you arrange individual mats around your tent layout. A double setup provides a wider shared sleeping area, but needs enough clear floor space inside the tent.

Check whether a double listing contains one wider mattress or a set of mats designed to connect. Compare the total sleeping dimensions, what is included and how the setup packs away. Choosing by measurements is more reliable than relying on the word “double” alone.

What to Check Before Choosing

• Sleeping dimensions: Allow enough length for the sleeper and enough width to rest comfortably. Check the usable tent floor area rather than its advertised person capacity alone.
• Mattress thickness: Compare the listed thickness alongside the available headroom and the space needed to transport your bedding.
• Packed size and weight: Check these separately from the inflated dimensions, especially if you have limited boot space or need to carry your gear.
• Inflation and packing instructions: Read how the valves operate and how the mattress should be deflated and rolled before storage.
• Included features: Check the individual listing for pillows, connecting points, carry bags and other accessories.
